Diamondbacks Starter Dominates Brewers Lineup To Open Series

Diamondbacks starter dominates Brewers lineup to open series

Zac Gallen quiets Milwaukee bats in Arizona's 4-0 win

Zac Gallen turned in a dominant performance on the mound as the Arizona Diamondbacks opened their series against the Milwaukee Brewers with a 4-0 victory on Monday night.

Gallen's dominance

Gallen allowed just two singles and two walks over seven shutout innings, striking out 10 batters. It was his second double-digit strikeout performance of the season.

The Brewers' offense, one of the best in the National League, was completely shut down by Gallen. The only baserunner to reach scoring position against him was Christian Yelich, who doubled with two outs in the third inning but was stranded on third.

Offensive support

The Diamondbacks provided Gallen with just enough offensive support to secure the win.

Ketel Marte singled in a run in the first inning, and Sergio Alcantara added a two-run single in the third. Josh Rojas capped the scoring with a solo homer in the fifth.

Brewers' struggles

The Brewers have now lost four of their last five games and have fallen to 11-13 on the season.

Milwaukee's offense has been struggling mightily, scoring just three runs in their last three games.

Up next

The Diamondbacks and Brewers will continue their series on Tuesday night at Chase Field.

Arizona will send left-hander Madison Bumgarner to the mound, while Milwaukee will counter with right-hander Corbin Burnes.
